入試英文では、鍵となるのが「前置詞句」ってこと、多いです。
それは、「前置詞句」が見抜けないと文構造が見えないからです。
実際の入試英文でみてみましょう。
次の文のどこに「前置詞句」が挿入されているか、わかりますか？
It is important to recognize at this point that the types of consciousness we may discover in other animals are likely to be very different from our own.
この２つです。
It is important to recognize ( at this point ) that the types of consciousness ( which ) we may discover ( in other animals ) are likely to be very different from our own.
まず、at this point 。
recognize は、recognize that S V の形をとり、「～ということを認める」の意味ですね。
その間に at this point 「この点で」が挿入されています。
次に、in other animals です。
the types of consciousness が先行詞で、その後に関係代名詞 which が省略されています。
その後、主語・動詞 we may discover の後に、 in other animals という「前置詞句」が置かれています。
従って全体の意味は
「私たちが（他の動物の中に）発見するかもしれない意識の型が、私たち自身とはとても異なっている可能性があるということを、（この点で）認めることが重要だ」
